The visit included several tourism and handicraft facilities, notably the “Les Zianides” Hotel, the Mechouar Citadel, and the Hammam Boughrara thermal station. The delegation reviewed rehabilitation and modernization projects, as well as prospects for developing the tourism and handicrafts sectors. This visit is part of efforts to promote Tlemcen’s tourism, historical, and thermal assets, encourage investment, and support local development.

As part of efforts to monitor development projects and assess the current situation and prospects of the tourism sector in the Wilaya of Tlemcen, Parliamentary Deputy Malik Mohamed took part on Thursday, September 24, 2026, in the working and inspection visit led by the Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Ms. Houria Meddahi, to the wilaya, alongside the Wali of Tlemcen, Mr. Youcef Bechlaoui, and in the presence of local and security authorities, as well as representatives of elected bodies.
The visit covered several tourism, thermal, and handicraft facilities and sites. It provided an opportunity to review the condition of existing infrastructure, inspect rehabilitation and modernization projects, and assess the potential and assets that the wilaya possesses in the fields of tourism and handicrafts.
### Inspection of the Rehabilitation Project of the “Les Zianides” Hotel
The visit began with an inspection of the “Les Zianides” hotel, where the delegation reviewed its facilities and the ongoing rehabilitation and modernization project.
Emphasis was placed on the importance of preserving the architectural and cultural identity of the city of Tlemcen, while incorporating local heritage elements, particularly the art of Zellige (traditional mosaic tilework), in order to promote the city’s cultural identity and enhance the hotel’s attractiveness.
### Promoting Traditional Handicrafts at the Mechouar Citadel
At the historic Mechouar Citadel, the delegation visited traditional handicraft activities and the exhibition and sales area dedicated to artisanal products, with the participation of approximately 50 artisans representing 31 wilayas across the country.
This visit highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation between the tourism and handicrafts sectors, promoting national cultural heritage, encouraging artisans, and supporting the marketing of their products, as traditional handicrafts represent an important driver of economic and tourism development.
### Developing Thermal Tourism at Hammam Boughrara
The visit also included the Hammam Boughrara thermal station in the district of Maghnia, where the rehabilitation and modernization project was inspected, and the delegation reviewed the various thermal and therapeutic services provided by the facility.
In this regard, emphasis was placed on developing thermal tourism, improving service quality, enhancing human resource qualifications, and integrating digital technologies into management, with the aim of improving performance and strengthening the competitiveness of this tourism facility.
### Tlemcen: Tourism Potential and Promising Investment Prospects
This visit forms part of ongoing efforts to support and develop the tourism sector in the Wilaya of Tlemcen, promote its historical, cultural, natural, and thermal assets, and support modernization and investment projects.
